Our Services & Process
Based in Myrtleford, we service the North East region of Victoria. Vivid provides a complete range of building design and drafting solutions that can be tailored to your project, whether its a small renovation or extension, a new home, multi-residential development or commercial project.
We manage every aspect of the pre-construction design and documentation process from initial concept design, through design development, town planning and ultimately construction documentation, and coordination of our trusted sub-consultants which may be required throughout the process.
Below is a brief outline of the process followed for our projects. New clients will receive a document outlining this process in greater detail after engagement.
Preliminary / Pre-Design
Initial Client Contact
Upon initial contact, we will gather your information and get a general understanding of your project. An initial meeting will be arranged. We will undertake a basic investigation into your site.
Obligation-free Initial Meeting
We’ll discuss your project, site and specific requirements in detail to develop a project brief. Findings from our investigation into site constraints and permit requirements will also be discussed.
Fee Proposal
A detailed Fee Proposal will be prepared based on your project brief and specific requirements as discussed in our initial meeting.
Pre-Design
After acceptance of our Fee Proposal, we will arrange a site visit to get familiarised with features and constraints of your site. An accurate survey will be undertaken of the site and/or existing building.
Concept Design & Design Development
Initial Concept Design
Now that we understand your requirements and details of the site, we can get creative. Development of our concept designs place emphasis on maximising northern aspect and involves thoughtful planning and strategic use of space, natural light and materials. Consideration of site constraints and buildability are kept at front of mind at concept stage.
Design Development
Using the concept design as a base, we work with you to further develop your design so that it fully satisfies your brief. Your floor plan, site layout and external appearance of the project are developed through this stage, and we may require engagement of our external consultants such as a town planner if a planning permit is required.
Town Planning
Once concept plans have been approved by the client, we may require a planning permit application. The relevant information is added to the concept plans to display compliance with requirements of the local Planning Scheme. A town planning consultant may need to be engaged to assist with the application.
Construction Documentation
We place a strong emphasis on creating highly detailed construction plans. These plans serve as a bridge between design intent and on-site execution, ensuring that builders and contractors understand and execute your vision accurately. It also helps in providing precise project pricing, avoiding unwelcome surprises down the road.
Working Drawings
The technical part of the process, Concept / Town Planning drawings are detailed to create working drawings to ensure compliance with The Building Code of Australia & Building Regulations ready for the Building Permit Application.
Engagement of Sub-Consultants (structural & geotechnical engineers, energy efficiency assessor, etc.)
Project Specification
Calling of Tenders: We can recommend builders who would be suited to your project to provide accurate project quoting. This can be arranged earlier in the process to ensure the project will fit within your budget.
